Due to the magical nature of unicorns the device turned the unicorn into a wooden rocking horse instead of a mask (the rocking horse does have similar properties to the masks). I imagine the hags were able to lure a unicorn into a trap and trigger the device. One of the efreeti's goals would be vengeance, sure, but escape is the other one. This device involves two copper spheres which transmit lightning between them. I'm also aiming to inject Isolde and potentially the Caller into the campaign as well (ideally the players would learn about Zybilna through the Eleventh Hour supplement dretches as well as Isolde and Zybilna's history - really ratchet up Tasha's morally dark past throughout - culminating in a confrontation at the end - do they side with Zybilna or Isolde?).Īnyway, there's no shortage of potentially powerful NPCs within the campaign and outside on the margins that an efreeti might want to make a deal with - my initial thought was to just have the efreeti's history involve being targeted by djinn in their conflicts, but the more I think about it, the more I really like the thought of Zybilna herself in a previous identity having done so - just one of many many enemies Iggwilv/Tasha had. While I think the efreeti may promise getting his elven traits back (the item is in Yon), I also imagine he'll be looking to escape the pocket watch itself - either through the hags, Zybilna, or even a League of Malevolence member (the warlock's name escapes me at the moment). We're about to leave the Carnival and I want to make sure this is a potential subplot worth running. I've got a player who is an elf efreeti genie warlock - they got the pocket watch from the prelude as a prize that ended up having the trapped efreeti inside it and gave him his abilities (his lost thing was his elf-manity - all the racial traits that elves have) - the watch gave him a bit of his starter warlock abilities but he has yet to understand just what is inside the pocket watch. Have a thought regarding a player story & quest and wanted to talk through my thoughts here, and see if maybe the hivemind might have something:
